Neptu

Neptu is the numeric value of a weton, the sum of the day's neptu (1 to 9) plus the market-day's neptu (4 to 9). The range is 7 to 18. Each neptu value has a nickname and a character (for example, neptu 12 is 'Lakune Kembang'). It is used for matchmaking compatibility (the couple's combined neptu divided by 8) and as a character reference. Note: there is no single rule making certain neptu totals 'auspicious days'. In Primbon, whether a day is favourable is generally worked out relative to the person's own birth weton, not from a fixed list of totals.
